In our missionary prayer meeting this evening we had a visit from John Lutas of the missionary organisation Asia Link. Asia Link seek to reach Asia “by supporting, training and encouraging Asian believers to share the powerful gospel of Jesus within their own cultures.” John gave us a mini tour of the work of the Lord in 6 Asian countries: Pakistan, Iran, Mongolia, India, Myanmar and Yemen.
It was fascinating to hear of the creative ways in which Asian believers are taking the gospel to their fellow countrymen and women. It was also heart breaking to hear of Christian brothers and sisters who are treated as second class citizens and were refused help, including food parcels, during the pandemic. Asia Link’s partners in these countries are showing love by providing help such as taking food parcels to people in desperate need and to warm clothing to children in Mongolia. To find out more about the work of Asia Link, and their bi-annual campaigns such as the Minus 50 Appeal and the On Your Bike Appeal, check out their website. We were challenged to consider how easily we complain and take things for granted when many of our brothers and sisters in Asia have so little. We were also exhorted to pray for these dear members of God’s family and for the work of the gospel in these countries. Thank you, John, for an inspiring and challenging evening.
