Bookstall & Library
|
Emmanuel operates a Bookstall which is open after the evening service on Sundays. Books and pamphlets are available to buy and to order. There is also an extensive library of books, tapes and CDs which may be borrowed or purchased. A number of periodicals and news-letters are also distributed through the church. "Here are two reasons why a Church should have a well-stocked bookstall: 1. God uses good books to change lives. 2. the church is full of busy people - too busy, sometimes, to drive into town and spend thirty minutes browsing through hundreds of books in their local Christian bookshop, trying to find a book they hope will be helpful. Here at Emmanuel Church a church bookstall has been available ever since the new church building opened in 1977. A purpose built set of display shelves with cupboards for storage was built by Dave Hooper to store and display books obtained through the EMW Christian bookshop in Cardiff. On a Sunday you can glance through a selection of Christian books while enjoying fellowship and refreshments after the evening service. if a book title you were hoping to buy is not there, then it can be ordered and collected later. Good Christian books are also available for loan from the church library which is a much under-used provision." Pauline Willmore |
Recording Ministry
|
Did you know that the services are recorded, and copies (either CDs or Cassettes) are available after the evening service? (Sermons are also available online). This ministry enables those who are shut in at home to share with us in the benefits of our regular services. Sometimes people who would be hesitant to come to a Church would be willing to listen to a recording at home. in this way the ministry of the Church can be extended. We are indebted to Tom Butcher and Val Morgan for bearing the brunt of the considerable work involved in this. Offers of help would be gratefully received. |
The Gazette

A church magazine is published monthly in advance and distributed to members of the congregation and others on the mailing/delivery list. It gives notice of services, preachers, meetings and activities. It also includes news from home and away, as well as reports from various church groups and articles/reviews contributed by members of the congregation. Items being submitted for publication should be e-mailed to |

Creation and Evolution issues
|
"The launch of Truth in Science (TiS) in October 2006 reignited the previously onesided debate about the origin of species. The sending of a resource pack to secondary schools in the United Kingdom presenting evidence in favour of an alternative to neoDarwinism - intelligent design - provoked a furore. With articles in national newspapers, programmes on radio and television, and, more recently, opportunities to address parliamentary committees, it is many years since this subject has been discussed so openly. Pray for those at the forefront of this debate as they battle with an unscrupulous enemy. For more information visit Truth in Science website. |
