Other
Activities
While the main energy of the church is directed towards demonstrating the love of God in bringing lost souls to Christ, we are also mindful of people's human needs for fellowship, friendship and companionship.

A wide variety of activities take place informally and in house meetings, especially for the young people. In addition to this a number of regular events are organised by or through the church.

Church & Sunday School Outing

Each year on one Saturday in June/July the Emmanuel Sunday School and Bible Classes (and friends) travel by bus and cars (and bikes) to Caerwent Community Centre for an afternoon of outdoor games - fun, food and frolics.

This year's outing on Saturday 12th July enjoyed a good turnout, good weather, good food, and good fellowship..

"Emmanuel Holiday"

In recent years a group of "youngsters" (of widely varying ages!) have got together for a few days holiday at the Haven Christian Centre in Pembroke. We have been blessed through Bible teaching, sharing of testimonies, Bible study and a question panel. Other activities on offer include games, time around Pembroke, a day at the beach and also a visit to Heatherton Activity Park ... and, of course, enjoying the food that will be prepared for us!

This half-term break is open to anyone who would like to join us for fellowship, teaching and a good time.

"Over the last few years a Church holiday has been organised to Pembroke. The main focus is for those attending the Youth Fellowship meeting, but others from the congregation are also welcome. We have stayed on the beach in the Haven Christian Centre in Pembroke, which has provided a good location for trips to Barafundle Bay and Heatherton Activity Park. Each day we hold a morning meeting, (Jo Bulman)

Aberystwyth Conference

Emmanuel usually organises a week-long trip for members of the church and congregation each year to the Aberystwyth Conference. This is an annual event organised by the Evangelical Movement of Wales. Last year's conference explored the theme: "The New Creation" and the main speaker was Art Azurdia.

Rico Tice from All Souls London also preached and gave a seminar - he was outstanding. His seminar was a training session for 90 minutes on "Personal Evangelism" and there was an exciting buzz in the full church every time he gave the meeting something to discuss. There was a wide range of ages at the seminar, old and young found the session valuable. The people leaving the meeting at the end felt that they would like to share the ideas with their church members when back home because some of the ideas were so relevant and pertinent to every day contact with people. Rico is the writer of "Christianity Explored" which has had a great impact in churches which have used the material worldwide. The theme of the main speaker, Art Azurdia, gave the meetings encouragements to make our Christianity relevant to the fallen world we live in.

There were a few new faces preaching in the evening sessions and the well known Stuart Olyott preached twice. All gave earnest, challenging and edifying presentations. DVD discs are available for all the sessions from EMW. Next years conference dates are 10th != 14th August. (Alan Jones)

EMW Summer Camp

Applications and travel arrangements for EMW Summer Camps in North Wales are co-ordinated via the church for children aged 10-15 years. A number of our young people usually attend the camps either as guests or volunteer staff.

"Every summer the EMW run camps for children and young people aged 10-18. The priority of camps is to provide spiritual teaching and guidance for the children mixed with lots of fun and games. Jo Bulman and myself have been involved in a camp for 10-12 year olds at Bryntirion for the past 5 years and hope to return again this summer.

Last year's camp was, as always, a blessing. Our Chaplain brought us a series of clear and challenging messages in the mornings. In the evenings the officers led Bible Studies on Elijah. Activities during the day included various team sports and games, and trips to local beaches. Please pray that God's blessing would be known in the EMW camps this summer." (Bethan Drayton)

Holiday Club

Clubs for children from the local area aged 5-11 years are arranged during the Easter and Summer holidays. These extend over several days and provide activities and scriptural teaching.

"Rambles"

From time to time, for example over a holiday weekend, a group of members of the congregation and friends will get together for a leisurely ramble over a few miles of local countryside.
